Participants were offered an optional Zoom session before the second weekend to discuss the evidence to date and the ideas being posted on the online platform, and to ask the facilitators any questions they had.
Approximately 60% of responses related to the firearms proposals and 30% to the online sales of bladed articles.

Children and young people also said that they want us to do more to help protect their rights when they are online: “Make sure these commitments apply to online too.”
For us, digital exclusion has three components, the first of which is having the confidence and motivation to go online. There are lots of people who are not online or do not want to go online.

The Committee was told that although Scots like to shop online, Scottish businesses do not necessarily like to sell online.
Our Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021 covers online and offline hate crime, and the UK Government plays a role in the reserved matter of the Online Safety Act 2023, which provides protections for children and adults online.
