The only thing that I would say about forestry is that the cycles involved are long, which means that investment today might not produce a return for 25, 50 or more years.
All I am suggesting to the minister is that in a strategic overview and holistic position, he requires lots of help to produce a flooding strategy for Scotland that can deliver.
The point of the forestry grant scheme must be to produce quality saw-log timber from the existing forestry crop and to improve forests' commercial quality.
