(S5O-00250) After much uncertainty, the United Kingdom Government announced on 15 September that it will ensure that the supported accommodation sector continues to be funded at current levels. A new funding model will be developed in England and funding will be devolved to the Scottish Parliament to allow us to make our own provision for supported accommodation from 2019.

That is hardly surprising, because the issue has not been funded or prioritised. Craig McLaren’s point about local place plans is great, but they will be worth while only if the officers have the required expertise, which includes community development skills and so on—that is what needs to be funded.
