Stage 1 consideration
The Committee recommended that the Bill was amended to require only simple electronic signatures to authenticate electronic documentation.

Social Justice and Social Security Committee consideration
We were designated as the lead committee in consideration of the Bill at Stage 1 on 24 June 2021.
Under the Parliament’s Standing Orders Rule 9.6.3 (a) it is for the lead committee to report to the Parliament on the general principles of the Bill.
In addition, the Bill would replace the previous inclusion of intersexuality as part of transgender identity, with separate protection for variations in sex characteristics.

The Committee welcomes the introduction of the Protection of Workers (Retail and Age-restricted Goods and Services) (Scotland) Bill by Daniel Johnson MSP.
The Committee heard that retail workers are subject to unacceptable violence, threats and aggression every working day.
