However, I would point out that the police can access clinicians 24/7; in particular, they have access to the mental health hub via NHS 24, and, as I outlined in my opening remarks, that access can happen directly through the command and control centres. I would highlight, too, the work of the distress brief intervention programme, to which referrals can be made not just from the command and control centres but from an operational on-the-ground centre.
