Requirements under the Child Poverty (Scotland) Act 2017
The Child Poverty (Scotland) Act 2017 was passed by the Scottish Parliament on 8 November 2017.
Within the SQA, there is an Accreditation Committee which is responsible for this function. The Bill provides for a similar structure within Qualifications Scotland, although the governance structures are different and this is explored later in this briefing.

Commitments in the Scottish Government's Programme for Government
The Scottish Government's 2016-17 Programme for Government included a commitment to develop a new Inshore Fisheries Bill. There was no mention of the Bill in the 2017-18 Programme for Government.
Some evidence to the Committee suggested that, in order to achieve the Bill’s policy objective of increasing the use of pre-recorded evidence, the visual recording of police interviews might need to be extended beyond JIIs to other child and vulnerable witnesses.
