The report set out the work of the Committee to that date, summarising—
the written evidence received from the call for views;
the themes emerging from the fact-finding visits undertaken in November 2019; and
the key outstanding questions to be addressed.
The Building (Scotland) Act 2003 gives Scottish Ministers the power to appoint other organisations as building standards verifiers. To date, Scottish Ministers have not appointed any organisations, other than local authorities, as building standards verifiers.
The committee heard widespread and serious concern about the way that the UK Government has legislated, including in the Nationality and Borders Act 2022 and the Illegal Migration Act 2023, or the refugee ban bill, as it was widely known.
