There is now probably sufficient evidence to justify the application of the precautionary principle, to save lives. Nigel Don's point should be reinforced.
Things always have to be balanced. We cannot go back to living in caves. The issue was raised by one of the organisations that gave evidence to the committee, which is why I asked the question.
Often, all the activity and resource of staff have gone into the contracting and not enough has gone into thinking about how people want to live their lives, how we will meet their support and care needs in future, and engaging them in the process.
