Resolved, That the Parliament recognises the importance of ensuring that Scotland is competitive in an increasingly globalised society; agrees that creating the conditions for talented people to live, learn, visit, work and remain in Scotland is crucial to helping to deliver the goals of growing Scotland's population and economy in a sustainable way, and welcomes the Scottish Government's International Framework as part of the means to extend, focus and align the actions and policies of the government and public sector partners to these ends while stressing the need to "make full use of the UK resources at our disposal", including "the Foreign and Commonwealth Office network around the world to maximise business, cultural and educational opportunities for Scotland", and "engage more directly with the British Council in our priority markets with a view to maximising the opportunities to showcase Scotland's cultural and educational excellence abroad", as outlined in the International Framework document, but does not consider it in the best...

Unless we can find better ways of supporting children and families to take full control of their diabetes, we will consign too many of our young people to an adulthood that is fraught with avoidable problems such as sight loss, cardiovascular disease, neuropathy and kidney problems.The Scottish diabetes framework and last year's diabetes action plan offer the best way of tackling the issue. The action plan gives priority to developments for young people and children living with diabetes.

Post-legislative scrutiny of the Disabled Persons' Parking Places (Scotland) Act 2009

Given the wide range of approaches adopted by local authorities, however, we agree with the Minister that there should be a review of how the requirements of this section are being met to identify best practice. We therefore recommend that the Scottish Government stakeholder working group undertakes such a review with a view to encouraging the sharing of best practice between local authorities in relation to engaging with the private sector car park owners in relation to disabled persons' parking places.
