This wider review was ongoing when the Bill was introduced and the Scottish Government, therefore, decided not to include any provisions relating to snaring in the Bill at that point but indicated it would do so at Stage 2.
Police officers are also protected by similar offences in section 90 of the Police and Fire Reform (Scotland) Act 2012.
It would be possible to prosecute the offence in the Bill under summary procedure only.
