Motion, as amended, agreed to,That the Parliament reaffirms the importance in a modern, democratic Scotland of the values proclaimed in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; acknowledges and asserts the inalienable rights enumerated in the European Convention for the Protection of Human Rights and Fundamental Freedoms and enshrined in international treaty; dedicates itself once more to the vision of an inclusive Scotland that respects, protects and realises the human rights of all; commends the work of the Scottish Human Rights Commission, Scotland’s independent national human rights institution; looks forward to the development of Scotland’s first national action plan for human rights over the course of 2013, and embraces the opportunities presented by Scotland’s engagement in the wider world to promote respect for the universal and indivisible rights of all of humanity, and believes that tackling human trafficking should be an essential part of the national action plan for human rights, including a clear commitment to review the current law to ensure that the crime of human trafficking is defined as clearly and comprehensively as possible.
