Supported by: Paul Sweeney*, Alasdair Allan* *S6M-05358 Jackie Dunbar: Aberdeen City Council Tackles Homelessness with New Initiative—That the Parliament commends Aberdeen City Council, which it understands has recently become the first local authority in Scotland to adopt a new technology-led approach to tackling homelessness; understands that the Council has partnered with online fundraising platform and social enterprise, Beam, which helps homeless people and council tenants at risk of homelessness to find jobs; further understands that Beam was first launched in London in 2017 and has since gone on to support more than 850 homeless people right across the UK into stable employment and homes; notes that, through Beam’s platform, individuals can fundraise for the cost of items that may be a financial obstacle for starting work such as job training, travel costs, childcare and a laptop; understands that in addition to providing financial support, Beam also has tools to assist jobseekers with things such as writing a CV, preparing for a job interview and online job applications; believes that this aligns with the rapid...
