The Cabinet Secretary said that the Scottish Government would shortly be consulting on a new overarching socio-economic duty. If enacted, the Child Poverty Bill would sit beneath that as part of a wider set of duties on ministers and local authorities arising from the Education (Scotland) Act 2016, the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act 2015 and the Children and Young People Act (Scotland) 2014.
