Supported by: Miles Briggs*, Margaret Mitchell*, Peter Chapman*, Jeremy Balfour*, Alexander Stewart*, Bill Kidd*, Alison Harris*, Iain Gray*, Rachael Hamilton* *S5M-09157 Bruce Crawford: Blooming Great Tea Party for Marie Curie That the Parliament — congratulates the fundraising efforts of people across Scotland who took part in over 600 Marie Curie Blooming Great Tea Parties throughout the summer of 2017, raising over £86,000; notes that these funds help the charity to provide care and support for over 8,000 people and their families every year in their own homes across 31 local authorities, in its hospices in Edinburgh and Glasgow, and at the West Lothian Community Palliative Care Service; recognises that every £20 raised pays for an hour of care from a Marie Curie nurse, which means the Scottish Blooming Great Tea Parties could fund over 4,300 hours of care; further recognises that this is only possible through local people supporting the campaign and spreading awareness of the importance of Marie Curie services across Scotland, and encourages people to also get involved in Christmas collections for the charity.
