P ART 4 15 S TAFF Staff 16 (1) The Commissioner may appoint staff. (2) Those staff are appointed on such terms and conditions as the Commissioner, with the approval of the Parliamentary corporation, determines. 20 Staff pensions 17 (1) The Commissioner may, with the approval of the Parliamentary corporation, pay or make arrangements for the payment of pensions, allowances and gratuities to, or in respect of, any person who is or has been a member of the Commissioner’s staff. (2) Those arrangements may include— 25 (a) making payments towards the provision of those pensions, allowances and gratuities, (b) providing and maintaining schemes for the payment of those pensions, allowances and gratuities. (3) The reference in sub-paragraph (1) to pensions, allowances and gratuities includes 30 pensions, allowances and gratuities by way of compensation for loss of office.

(2) The SCTS may— (a) determine the circumstances in which such sums may be paid, and 35 (b) determine different circumstances for different members. 7 (1) The SCTS is to pay such remuneration as appears to the Scottish Ministers to be reasonable in all the circumstances to— (a) the Deputy Chair in respect of the additional functions of being Deputy Chair, (b) persons nominated under paragraph 13. 62 Crofting and Scottish Land Court Bill Schedule 1—The Scottish Land Court Part 1—Administration and organisation 1 (2) The SCTS may pay to the Deputy Chair such allowances as it may determine. (3) The SCTS may pay to each of the following persons such sums as it may determine in respect of expenses reasonably incurred by the person in the performance or, or in connection with, the person’s duties— 5 (a) the Deputy Chair, (b) persons nominated under paragraph 13.
