A public health approach to gambling harms - Local authority powers
They issue licenses and permits for gambling and gambling premises on the basis of the licensing objectives of the Gambling Act 2005. As of March 2022 there were just under 1000 gambling premises across local authorities in Scotland (Gambling Commission unpublished data).
