Indeed, the Scotch Whisky Association, one of the UK's most successful trade associations, employs a team of lawyers whose sole remit is to protect Scotch whisky at European and international level.I know that MSPs have been issued with the SWA brief, so I will comment only under headings.

Arthur Midwinter's paper is lucid, clear and to the point and should be required reading for all MSPs. Paragraph 24 is the only one on which I will take him to task—it takes a bit of believing that the proportion of low-income pensioners has fallen from 29 per cent to 8 per cent.
