When a motion is signed by more than third of all MSPs and when a health issue is the topic of a members' business debate for the third time in the first five years of the Parliament, there is clearly awareness and concern within this institution, and quite rightly so.

We must focus not just on economic life and our working week but on what we do when we are not working. Although many MSPs are guilty of seeing our job as infinite, it is important for us all to ensure that we take holidays and encourage holidays in general.

However, the motion is a particularly good one that covers issues that many of us have come across in our constituencies as MSPs and, in my case, as an MP.I declare an interest as a grandparent with three grandchildren, but I am happy to say that there is no current need for legislation or interference to make me take over parental responsibilities.

Once the priorities are set, we need to get buy-in from civic Scotland, wider Scottish interests, MSPs, MEPs and others to ensure that the voice is not distilled downwards in some way.I have to pass on the question whether any lessons have been learnt, although my officials may want to comment on the specific question about previous processes.
