I am also very aware of the tireless work of campaign groups in bringing the issue to the attention of the Parliament, including through petitioning the Public Petitions Committee, and of the positive responses to that effort. If that debate interested members of the public, they might make arrangements to attend it or they might lobby MSPs about it. I do not see how the proposal would work or how such flexible business would lend itself to the transparency and accountability of the Parliament.
It would be helpful for the code to be laid before the Parliament and widely consulted on. MSPs have been concerned to ensure that there is sharing of information and that that happens in the proper way.
