At its meeting on 19 December 2017, the Delegated Powers and Law Reform Committee considered the delegated powers provisions in the Historical Sexual Offences (Pardons and Disregards) (Scotland) Bill at Stage 1 ("the Bill").iThe Bill is available here.
How will the proposals in the UK Electoral Registration and Administration Bill affect Scotland? The bulk of the provisions in the bill are reserved and affect the introduction of individual electoral registration, which will obviously affect voters in Scotland.
We also considered the petition at our meeting on 6 December 2023, when we agreed to seek information from the Scottish Refugee Council, JustRight Scotland, COSLA, Police Scotland, and the Mears Group.

The Committee notes the concerns that have been raised by electoral administrators in relation to the minimum period of postponement for Scotland-wide local authority elections should be increased from two weeks, as set out in the Bill at present, to four weeks.
