I hope that the minister will put it on record this evening that no decision has yet been taken on the future of the Aberdeen lab and that nothing has been ruled out or in.There are many factors to be considered, and of course they include costs, but the ultimate goal must be the best possible forensic science provision to give the best possible support to our police in their pursuit of criminals.

Some people have been addicted for many years and the chances of their ever making a complete recovery are very slim. Of course we have to do our best to keep them alive and in the best possible way, but the chances of their making a full recovery, becoming drug free or holding down a job are very slim.
