If we were, our raison d'être would disappear. Many MSPs were once councillors and must be well aware that councillors are elected on a local manifesto and give undertakings to the local electorate to deliver services as best they can.

Nevertheless, if I had been allowed to lodge my amendments, we could have had a better debate on the bill.I have not been an MSP for as long as some other members but, in my four years in the Parliament, I have not heard such sheer hypocrisy as I have heard from the Conservatives, both this morning and at lunch time, with regard to the bill.
