We also lodged a number of amendments through various MSPs from different parties. We will continue to do that at stage 3 to improve the bill.We received a letter that stated that Peter Peacock would consider carefully any application to the unified fund for a grant to help to support parents through the new tribunal process.

Something like a strike or— An emergency seems to happen every day—or every Wednesday or Thursday—for some constituency MSPs. A judgment has to be made about what is an emergency and what is urgent, although I recognise that some people might see them as the same thing.

There was some discussion about placement requests for four-and-a-half-year-olds when we debated the Standards in Scotland's Schools etc Bill. I am sure that I am not the only MSP who has been working with parents who have had problems that will be resolved by the School Education (Amendment) (Scotland) Bill.

John Home Robertson, the local member of the Scottish Parliament, contacted the clerk to say that an East Lothian environmental group had approached him about the problem. That group wrote to him, other MSPs and the health board, and John Home Robertson has taken up the issue.

MSPs are very much involved in both subsidiarity and transparency and the Commission appreciates political guidance on structural funds.
