I received calls yesterday from many people who asked me to vote against the euthanasia bill, and I am sure that other MSPs also received such calls. I am concerned that some parties involved in the debate have projected the bill as being primarily concerned with euthanasia.

The Health and Community Care Committee was also concerned about the Mental Health (Scotland) Bill—which became the Mental Health (Care and Treatment) (Scotland) Act 2003.
