The Scottish Government will continue to do what it always has done—we will stand up for the rights of our farmers and crofters in Scotland and will protect their interests as much as we possibly can.
The SPF made some submissions on the provisions of the Criminal Justice (Scotland) Bill regarding the undoubted additional costs that were going to come as a consequence of that legislation.
The price of land is also much higher in Ireland than in Scotland because the Irish have the right to buy and every piece of Ireland is owned, with only short-term lets available.
They would be a registered Scottish taxpayer, hence the revenue would accrue to Scotland rather than to the Treasury. Right now, we have a fairly tight labour market in Scotland.

The Committee submits this report to the lead Committee for the Bill under Rule 9.6.2 of Standing Orders.
The provisions in the Bill
The Bill does two things:
It amends definition of 'actuary' in the 1982 Act to reflect the merger of the Faculty of Actuaries in Scotland and the Institute of Actuaries in 2011 (section 1(1) of the Bill)
It removes the requirement in the 1982 Act that the collector is a contributor to the Fund and substitutes a new requirement that the collector shall be an individual (section 1(2) of the Bill).

There were also calls to support alternative dispute resolution, such as mediation and conflict resolution. The Human Rights Consortium Scotland noted that this could deliver better outcomes for clients.
