The delivery of Police Scotland’s contact, command and control function is an operational matter for the Chief Constable with oversight from the Scottish Police Authority.
Let me again stress that the operation was conceived of and run by the division in Edinburgh. Yes. The Edinburgh divisional commander has worked all his service as a Lothian and Borders officer, as have the majority of his command team.
Integration will provide a single command structure, with seamless access to wider support facilities and specialist resources of the second largest police service in the UK, providing an enhanced service to the rail industry and travelling public.

Network Rail has agreed contingency plans in place with each train operator and, in accordance with its licence conditions, it can commandeer the nearest, suitable train to remove the broken down train.
