The largest single payment in a legally-aided case was £877,981.07, part of the cost of the case of Robert Napier v The Scottish Ministers. In that case, expenses were recovered from the defender and there was no net cost to the Legal Aid Fund.

To ask the Scottish Executive what progress has been made towards a definition of "positions working regularly with vulnerable adults" in relation to extending the categories entitled to free criminal record checks for the purposes of Part V of the Police Act 1997. Disclosure Scotland was established within the Scottish Criminal Record Office to discharge ministers' functions under Part V of the Police Act 1997. It has been fully operational since September last year.
