Official Report Meeting date: 10 May 2006

Education Committee, 10 May 2006

I do not have any specific evidence or examples. MSPs will be lobbied by elements within and individuals committed to faith organisations.
Official Report Meeting date: 9 May 2006

Justice 2 Committee, 09 May 2006

Is it not more important that the complainer knows that an investigation into the complaint will be conducted properly at whichever level the complaint is dealt with? My point is that many MSPs and MPs hear from constituents with complaints about reserved or devolved matters, including some that can be dealt with by the Scottish public services ombudsman.
Official Report Meeting date: 18 January 2006

Public Petitions Committee, 18 Jan 2006

I am also quite keen to send a copy of the petition for information to the Executive and to NHS 24, although I am sure that the MSP who is involved has raised the matter with those bodies.

Education Committee, 26 Oct 2005

That might not have happened in this instance—we will find that out when we have a proper report. The update says that a bill on joint inspections will be introduced, so I suggest that it might be appropriate to ask the minister to make a statement when a bill is introduced, because of the sensitivity of child protection and the interest in it. That would allow all MSPs to ask questions about progress on child protection as well as on the bill that the Executive plans to introduce.
Official Report Meeting date: 28 June 2005

Environment and Rural Development Committee, 28 Jun 2005

The issue of proposals for rural school closures was discussed at the Public Petitions Committee today. Many MSPs were in attendance to discuss it and many people from the various campaigns against school closures throughout the country held a rally outside the Parliament.
Official Report Meeting date: 24 May 2005

Procedures Committee, 24 May 2005

I would be interested to know how what we discussed in relation to that part of the paper relates to individual MSPs and committees lodging Sewel motions and to Bruce McFee's point about motions to un-Sewel or un-Gillon what was previously Sewelled or Gilloned.
Official Report Meeting date: 19 April 2005

Finance Committee, 19 Apr 2005

Arthur Midwinter's paper is lucid, clear and to the point and should be required reading for all MSPs. Paragraph 24 is the only one on which I will take him to task—it takes a bit of believing that the proportion of low-income pensioners has fallen from 29 per cent to 8 per cent.
Official Report Meeting date: 2 February 2005

Communities Committee, 02 Feb 2005

A submission from the Scottish Council of Jewish Communities quoted an MSP at the Public Petitions Committee:"I am … very disturbed … that the charity benefits only people from the Jewish religion and with a Jewish background.
