Post-legislative scrutiny of the Child Poverty (Scotland) Act 2017
The Committee heard that, while the Act emphasises the use of data to inform policy, some witnesses felt frustrated by the demands on resources to access timely and detailed ward-based data to best target their delivery.
Peter Kelly told the Committee that the Act's focus on local data collection has highlighted gaps in national datasets that local authorities and health boards cannot address, and added that they 'are doing the best that they can with the data that they have.'
