Where a cattle keeper cannot prove an animal’s identity then the animal may be destroyed after a thorough assessment of the animal health and food safety risks posed by allowing the animal to live. However, in most cases animals will be registered on CTS and restricted to holding.

The measures will include approaches to the management of wild-living domestic cats and hybrids and promoting responsible ownership of domestic cats in these areas.
To ask the Scottish Government whether it will provide an estimate of the number of wildcats living outside captivity. There is currently no reliable basis from which to produce an estimate of the number of wildcats in the wild in Scotland.
