It is important to emphasise that, under the bill, MSPs will have a much more focused role in engaging with transport projects than they have as part of the private bills process.
It is open to us, as the convener implied, to pursue an amendment as a committee rather than as individual MSPs. It might be that this is an occasion on which the committee might wish to examine that option.
They might use different language and have a different emphasis, but they all raise the same issues—issues on which every MSP could draw examples from their own area, where communities have inadequate bus services.
A report was produced for the unit's first year in summer 2001 and was, I think, made available to MSPs. It was certainly published. It is my understanding that it was made available to MSPs.
Members will note that there is no obligation to make such a contribution and that the views of MSPs and staff will be sought individually through a survey, which we have all received.
