I am told that our FM team will try to get round the MSP block this week. I am aware of the fact, of course, that members are around over the recess as well.
Nicol Stephen and Frank McAveety have a record as ministers, as well as experience before becoming MSPs, which they can use to be successful in their new posts.
I recognise the local interest that was shown in the issue by Dorothy-Grace Elder, in her role as a Glasgow list MSP, and by the constituency MSP, Margaret Curran.
We must have information first. For example, as an MSP, I might agitate for additional modern languages teachers because I say that there is a need for them.
I also welcome Richard Lochhead MSP, who is here for the evidence-taking session with Scottish Enterprise—any member of the Scottish Parliament can participate in committee meetings and ask questions.
In the months ahead, my officials and I will seek to be available to MSPs. The difficulties in the scheme are simply not an issue in large swathes of the country, but they are a matter of continuing concern to MSPs in other areas.
