The next stage of the process is for ministers and officials to consider the reports’ findings and recommendations and to produce a response on behalf of the Scottish Government.
The Committee of the Regions is valuable in producing own-initiative opinions or commenting on Commission documents and subjecting Commission officials to interrogation in the same way that we do.
The report that flowed from the repossessions group's work set out a series of recommendations. When it was produced, we expressed our concern that not everybody on the group was fully behind those recommendations.
However, I seek leave to lodge a similar amendment at stage 3, if necessary, and I very much hope that the cabinet secretary will produce concrete proposals before we have to vote on any such amendment at stage 3.
