Does the minister agree that the very process of applying for those funds is of benefit to any towns that choose to do so, because it encourages them to think about how their area can best be improved? Does he agree that towns should also seek to build on such plans by identifying a range of funding for growth and regeneration?

The allocation for 2008-09 of £183.4 million represents a 78 per cent increase on the £103 million that the service received in 2001-02.It is for the Scottish Ambulance Service to decide how to allocate that money to its six operating divisions across Scotland in a way that will deliver the best services for patients and the best value for money.
