Opt out, or presumed consent, offers the possibility of delivering hope to people who will otherwise die in those years as they wait in vain for the phone to ring.That is why we are calling for a move to a soft opt-out, in which the presumption is that the deceased person wishes to donate their organs while the views of relatives are still allowed to be taken into account and honoured.
