Official Report Meeting date: 20 March 2007

Public Petitions Committee, 20 Mar 2007

I note that the proposal had the support of more than half of MSPs when it was first made. It is very much in the interests of the Parliament to pursue the matter.

I introduced my Home Energy Efficiency Targets (Scotland) Bill on 19 September, with cross-party support from 40 MSPs. That is well over a third of those members eligible to sign their support, and one of the highest levels of support for any member's bill in this session. The bill would do what the title suggests: improve energy efficiency levels in Scotlan...

However, yesterday, during stage 2 of the Nature Conservation (Scotland) Bill, amendments from a cross-party consensus of MSPs, including the Liberal Democrats, which were intended to give the proposed biodiversity strategy a more robust framework, did not receive sufficient support.

Does the minister agree that an excellent way in which to promote Scotland is to encourage and support Burns suppers, such as the forthcoming European Union Burns supper in Brussels? MSPs, including my good friend Jamie Stone, have been asked to participate in that supper.
Official Report Meeting date: 13 January 2004

Health Committee, 13 Jan 2004

I hope that the fact that the consultation paper is on the Executive's website and is available through the Scottish Parliament information centre will go a long way to meeting the public's concerns on the issue, which has hit every MSP's postbag at one time or another.
