Tampering with the privilege of judges will create endless problems. There would also be an impact on MSPs. Nobody has a right of reply in the chamber other than MSPs, and we assume the honour and good conduct of MSPs and suppose that their statements are made in good faith.

However, I do not think that it is within the committee's remit to pick out that particular issue. MSPs have the opportunity to lodge questions and motions and try to get it debated in the Parliament, but I do not think that the committee can raise the matter because we are not holding an inquiry or taking evidence from witnesses.
