Like most current members of the Standards, Procedures and Public Appointments Committee, I was not involved in the considerable amount of work that went into producing the report that we are debating.

I am sure that the members of both committees that were involved in producing the report will read it. I hope that we can all work together with the Government to make the recommended improvements a reality.
We will also find out what the Government is doing and what its timescale is for producing a package of recommendations.That is one potential inquiry, if we can fit it in.
The final decision will be made by the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Wellbeing once the neurosurgery implementation group has produced its report, which it is expected to do early next year.
I look forward to the results of the consultation and to the information that is produced being fed into the priorities of local and national Government.
