It would be daft, therefore, to insist that gifts to close family members of MSPs be registered. If we were to retain such provision, it should cover only gifts that relate to our office as MSPs.
There will always be a demand for someone to leak information. Journalists will contact MSPs and claim to have information in the hope that the MSP will confirm it.
That is helpful. I am primarily concerned that MSPs should turn up for meetings. It will be Jackie Baillie's responsibility as the sponsoring MSP to ensure that that happens.
Let us be clear: the important part of that sentence is:"be given to understand that preferential access or treatment might be forthcoming from another MSP".Remember that this is a code for MSPs' conduct.
