Official Report Meeting date: 29 October 2009

Plenary, 29 Oct 2009

In such an important debate on such an important subject, it is a disgrace and discourtesy to the Parliament that the Government published the economic recovery plan update this afternoon without first advising Parliament and MSPs that it would be published and without making it available to Opposition spokespersons in advance of the debate, and only sneaki...
Official Report Meeting date: 27 October 2009

Transport, Infrastructure and Climate Change Committee, 27 Oct 2009

It came from the process of the 2003 Government white paper on aviation, which asked us to put in place a master plan by 2006. The Scottish Government told MSPs that the cost of reproviding the aviation fuel farm at quarter four of 2004 prices was estimated to be £3 million and that BAA had input to the calculation of that figure.

Public Audit Committee, 07 Oct 2009

I thank you both for those comprehensive responses. As a Glasgow MSP, I am obviously most interested in Glasgow, which has the highest proportion of people from minority ethnic communities.

Education, Lifelong Learning and Culture Committee, 13 May 2009

I am pleased that the committee has been joined by Murdo Fraser MSP, who, as I am sure members know, has a long-standing interest in the subject.

More important than us MSPs were the hundreds of young people and athletes who were there, along with the sports officials and members of the nation's ...
Official Report Meeting date: 26 March 2009

Plenary, 26 Mar 2009

There is a danger of a little occupational segregation among MSPs in economy debates, with only men contributing to debates on big issues such as the economy while we reflect on social issues elsewhere.
Official Report Meeting date: 18 March 2009

Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee, 18 Mar 2009

We are trying to withdraw altogether from dealing with lower-risk issues or to put on our website standing advice that indicates what we think about issues on that scale. Councils often complain to MSPs about the fact that statutory consultees have not yet responded.
Official Report Meeting date: 5 March 2009

Plenary, 05 Mar 2009

I place on record my committee's thanks to those who gave evidence and to our ever-excellent clerking team, who helped to produce an excellent report in a very short timescale. However, I have to say at the outset that it does nothing to enhance the reputation of the Parliament for any MSP to quote selectively from, paraphrase, or reinterpret recommendations...
Official Report Meeting date: 21 January 2009

Plenary, 21 Jan 2009

When those retailers cannot be sure that a pesticide is safe, they ban its use on the food that they sell.MEPs from the other parties that are represented in the Scottish Parliament appear to have gone native with the chemical lobby, but I nevertheless hope that MSPs will accept my amendment or at least indicate some sympathy with what it says, as Sarah Boy...
Official Report Meeting date: 18 December 2008

Plenary, 18 Dec 2008

I respect the sincere views of Richard Simpson and other MSPs who support the state having the right to take a deceased person's organs without permission—that is what it is, even though they still call it presumed consent.
