Based at Chalmers sexual health service in Edinburgh, Professor Sharon Cameron characterised the protests outside the clinic as creating "a chill in staff" and told the Committee that staff have expressed concerns about their safety as a result of these activities.

Knowing the physical locations of services in hospitals and of sexual and reproductive health services, I cannot see that the size could be reduced.

Tackling health inequalities in Scotland - Employment
While a living wage would not support those who are out of work, such as those with caring responsibilities or health conditions that prevent them from working, Professor McCartney argued that a living wage was "certainly a very important part of the mix to reduce income inequalities in the country.Health, Social Care and Sport Committee, Official Report 24 May 2022" Dr Sharon Wright suggested that "promoting the living wage or a requirement for the living wage to be paid would be helpful.Health, Social Care and Sport Committee, Official Report 14 June 2022"
Professor McCartney also noted the existence of often confusing terminology around the living wage:
The living wage in Scotland is a voluntary sign-up scheme that most public sector agencies have engaged with or are working towards.
