I am very happy to close the debate on behalf of the Labour MSPs. It has been a good and challenging debate.Even prior to the recession, housing was moving up the political agenda.
For my part, I agree with them, but people tell me, as the local MSP, that the plans are absolute nonsense and ask me why this or that is not happening.
I challenge any member to find within those areas a single budget line in relation to which MSPs have not demanded extra spending or opposed reductions in spending.
Does not the code of conduct, for which the Presiding Officers are responsible, require every MSP, regardless of whether they are ministers or ordinary MSPs, to be truthful and straightforward with other members?
The amendment attacks the recommendations of NRAC—which is something that Labour MSPs from Grampian, Forth Valley, Fife, Lothian and Lanarkshire might find very difficult to explain to their constituents.
There is no question but that the existing arrangements need to be improved, and I have made available to MSPs the list of 20 key improvements that we have put to the UK Government.
