As we leave the EU our human rights framework in Scotland will change significantly.vi Official Report, 3 May 2018, Cols 2-3 Our recommendations present an opportunity to be bolder and to strengthen our existing procedures and processes, to make human rights more central to our work and how we undertake our scrutiny function and to be an exemplar of international best practice to other parliaments. Taking a human rights-based approach to scrutiny will ensure the Parliament is aware of any decline of human rights protections and is able to identify opportunities to advance human rights to help build a fairer, more just society.
