The Committee asked the Scottish Government why it did not challenge the expenditure relating to the training course, the former Deputy Director responded—
I was assured by the [former] CEO that the course best met the needs of the individual.
The importance to the business community was underlined in terms of the skills agenda, graduate schemes and a desire to attract the “best talent from around the world to roles in the UK, and to give individuals and youth the opportunity to learn from others in other parts of the world."
He stated that other deals have a more streamlined approach, and that there is an opportunity to look at best practice with a view to making the process more efficient.
