I am sure that the issue of getting appropriate respite care for adults with disabilities has been raised with every MSP. I declare an interest because I am a member of the management group of the Aberdeen respite project.I agree with Kate Maclean that the suggestions in paragraphs 11 and 12 are the appropriate way forward.

I want to start by questioning the method of electing a committee convener. If the oldest MSP present does not act her age, and if nobody can guess her age by looking at her, where is the justice in singling her out in this way when she is doing nobody any harm and wants just to totter off quietly into the sunset?

The board is probably doing informal briefings for Glasgow MSPs. I think it is. I had a useful meeting with Greater Glasgow Health Board yesterday, and I certainly agree that the committee should meet the board in future, but the best time for that to happen would be at the end of the acute services review.
