We are all—rich or poor, black or white, man or woman, South African, Malawian or Scot—vulnerable to its threat.In 2005, I was part of a delegation of MSPs that went to South Africa and Malawi.
I acknowledge the hard work that Bill Butler put into the bill, which began long before I became an MSP. I hope that he achieves a sense of satisfaction at seeing his efforts come to fruition today.
It is important that members have stressed in the chamber today that MSPs must be able to engage in legitimate scrutiny of the operation of court processes, which can be so important to wider approaches to court reforms.
However, I suspect that I am not the only MSP to have been contacted by non-resident parents—usually fathers—who say that enforcing a contact order can be difficult.
At the time of the passage of the act, there was strong cross-party support. My fellow Fife MSP, Tricia Marwick—with whom, I admit, I do not agree on many occasions—lodged an amendment on the issue.
Broadcasting and official report staff might also appreciate such innovations more often.Today, I was delighted to join other MSPs in meeting pupils from Crossford primary school, some of whom are lucky enough to use such special communication aids.

Introduction
Through its scrutiny of reports prepared by the Auditor General for Scotland (AGS) and Audit Scotland, the Public Audit Committee (the Committee) examines whether public funds are being spent wisely and holds to account those who are charged with spending public money.
The convener of Shetland Islands Council has written the most polite and reasoned letter—if I may say so—to Highlands and Islands list MSPs of all political parties in support of the amendment.
However, our motion to limit the increases to 12.5 per cent in any one year—itself a big increase—was defeated by a combination of SNP and Conservative MSPs. Quite why Conservative MSPs should want to harm businesses in that way is beyond all understanding.
