What this briefing does
This briefing is divided into two parts:
the first part covers the current law
the second part explains efforts to reform inheritance law over the last two parliamentary sessions, including a summary of the latest consultation paper
The briefing will help MSPs with their constituency casework relating to inheritance issues.

Membership changes during the reporting period
Since we last published a tracker report on 15 November 2024, the following membership changes have taken place on the Committee:
On 19 June, Evelyn Tweed MSP replaced Emma Roddick MSP as a member of the Committee.
The impact that the framework decision-making principles will have on the role of the Scottish Parliament and MSPs in developing Scottish AHW policy remains unclear.
The Bill is a Member's Bill, introduced by Emma Harper, MSP. A consultation was held between February and May 2019 and a consultation summary was produced.
