Digital technology that enables taxpayers to self-serve in the tax system where previously they had to contact a member of staff to intermediate between them and the tax system is definitely appearing. There is a parallel in online banking, where the banks now give customers access to the banking system as opposed to using a cashier to intermediate between customers and the system.
