The Scottish Government has provided the City of Edinburgh Council with extra funding in recognition of its position as capital city since the 2008-09 local government finance settlement.
Matching people with the apprenticeships, training courses and qualifications that they need to succeed is not an optional extra; it must be the bedrock of our economic strategy.
I note, with gratitude, the selection of an urgent question this afternoon, but many people outside the chamber will wonder why time for an extra half-hour statement opens up when it suits the Scottish Government.
Albeit that there was additional money, over the past eight or nine months, there has been a major improvement in productivity and in the way in which that productivity has been delivered, with extra appointments and procedures and people being seen more quickly.
You were asked earlier in this meeting about recruiting extra people and about the decisions made when deficits were reported and you decided not to change course.
To ask the Scottish Government, further to its news release of 11 December 2020, Extra funding for student associations, whether it will provide an update on the distribution of the money.
