It is not good enough for the statute simply to say that the general aim will be for sustainable development, because that could be a world, European or British definition. MSPs have the opportunity to debate what we are going to decide sustainable development is for Scotland over the next five years.

I accept Christine Grahame's point that there are bad grandparents just as there are bad parents, bad MSPs and bad anyone else. However, the concept of the wider family can be extremely positive.

As far as I am concerned, if someone is accused of misconduct there is a perception that they have knowingly done something wrong.I ask every MSP to consider what their own position would be if they were a charity trustee who was reported as having been guilty of misconduct.

My colleagues on the committee have been considering the bill for much longer than I have, because I became a member of the committee quite late in the day, but every MSP has the option to attend and take part in meetings from day one.
